Three Russian DDoS cybercriminal groups, HackNeT, NoName057, and the People’s CyberArmy, have allegedly launched a series of Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks on several prominent Slovak websites, causing significant disruption. In addition to their latest announcements, they have recently continued their attacks on many Slovak websites. The group HackNeT is recently reported to have targeted:
Prešovský samosprávny kraj: Prešovský Samosprávny Kraj is an administrative region in eastern Slovakia.
Mesto Trenčín: Mesto Trenčín is a historic city in western Slovakia known for its medieval castle.
Medzinárodná organizácia pre migráciu (IOM): The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a global leader in migration management.
These coordinated attacks underscore the critical importance of defending against DDoS attacks, which can severely disrupt essential services and infrastructure. The incidents highlight the urgent need for robust cybersecurity measures to protect national institutions from such threats. As politically and economically motivated cyber assaults become more frequent, enhancing our defenses against these attacks is crucial to maintaining national security and stability.
